Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach me at jennifer@durandfamilylaw.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

My primary focus is to help resolve your legal issues fairly and with reasonable expectations. In addition to that, I am aware of the psychological toll divorce can have on parents and children. It is my goal to empower you to start living a more satisfying life.

It is my mission to guide and advise my clients through every step of the case. It is also my practice to explain what I am doing for my clients as the case progresses and what to expect next in the process.

Yes. I provide mediation services where I work with parties to help them reach an agreement.

Yes. As a trained conciliator, I collaborate with both parties to resolve cases amicably.

I represent clients who are filing for divorce, which often includes asset division, alimony, child support, child custody, and parenting plans.

Other areas include modification of prior judgments of divorce, such as modifications of child support or parenting plans, representing never-married parents in actions regarding parentage, child custody, and/or child support, prenuptial agreements, and removal cases.

Yes. I have represented clients with this specific family dynamic.

Yes. I am a trained conciliator and mediator. These processes are private and informal, and allow parties to work toward solutions amicably and outside of court.

That is understandable. I have represented clients in similar situations. Gray or silver divorce involves different considerations because both parties are closer to retirement. I will review your circumstances and will advise you on a realistic outcome.

Yes. I am not afraid to fight for my clients, whether in or out of the courtroom. Even when the case involves sensitive issues, I am dedicated to advocating for the results you want. I am always prepared for litigation, if necessary.

I understand that family law often involves highly charged emotions over sensitive matters. I work with clients and opposing counsel to resolve cases but will not hesitate to go to court. My goal is to seek practical and reasonable solutions.

Yes. Prenuptial agreements are a service I provide to ensure that you have the right safeguards in place.

During the initial consultation with me, I emphasize that our attorney-client relationship must be based on communication and trust, which are crucial to the efficient and predictable progression of your case. Throughout your case, please be reassured that I will guide you through the process and ensure that you are in control of making the best decisions for your family.

A successful outcome begins when we discuss the issue(s), your circumstances, and your goals. Knowledge of each of these factors is a unique characteristic, requiring a tailored approach to your circumstances and goals.
